St. Vincent's 1845 Foundation

For nearly 200 years, the Religious Sisters of Mercy served Savannah, calling the St. Vincent's Convent home. The St. Vincent's 1845 Foundation preserves this historic landmark and its treasures, honoring the sisters' legacy for generations to come.

A Savannah Tradition

The story of the Sisters of Mercy in Savannah begins in 1842 when local priest Father Jeremiah Francis O'Neill asked the city for land to build an institution for a community of religious women.
